A superb Arts and Crafts period oak mirror-backed sideboard, attributed to Liberty & Co and dating to circa 1900. This is an exceptional example of the movement’s naturalistic design language, crafted in solid quarter-sawn oak with wonderful medullary rays, rich colouring and warm original patina. The upper section features shaped shelves and a bevelled mirror, framed by twin inset copper panels with repoussé sunrise motifs—classic Liberty metalwork showing both decorative flair and a celebration of handcrafted detail. The pierced heart motifs to the gallery, along with stylised carved accents to the cupboard doors, further underline the piece’s strong Arts and Crafts identity.

The base section provides excellent storage, including two large drawers with hand-beaten brass swan-neck handles and a central panelled cupboard flanked by carved uprights. The proportions are practical yet elegant, and the craftsmanship is evident throughout—crisp joinery, solid oak throughout, and a design that marries utility with artistic integrity, as Liberty furniture of this era is known for.
