Vintage Large Glazed Oak & Walnut Bookcase Cabinet Georgian Revival Library Cupboard

Vintage Large Glazed Oak & Walnut Bookcase Cabinet Georgian Revival Library Cupboard

Ref: 2239

A substantial and exceptionally well-made glazed oak and walnut bookcase cabinet, crafted in the Georgian Revival taste and dating from the late twentieth century. Built to a remarkably high standard using solid oak and figured walnut veneers, this impressive library bookcase combines traditional craftsmanship with practical modern functionality.

The moulded dentil cornice provides a strong architectural presence, while the pair of elegant astragal glazed doors are enhanced by brass edging, creating a refined and timeless appearance. The cabinet is supplied with working locks and keys, retaining its original swan-neck handles to the lower drawers. The warm walnut figuring across the drawer fronts and door surrounds provides excellent visual contrast against the rich oak framework.

Internally, the cabinet offers generous storage with adjustable shelving, allowing it to accommodate books, decorative objects, ceramics, collections or office storage with ease. Two deep drawers beneath provide additional concealed storage for documents, accessories or household items. Constructed in three sections, the bookcase dismantles for transportation and installation, making it ideal for modern homes despite its impressive scale.

Its classic proportions and understated elegance make it equally suited to a country house library, study, drawing room, office or interior designer project. The quality of construction, attractive timber selection and traditional detailing give this piece the appearance and character of a much earlier antique bookcase while offering the practicality expected by contemporary buyers.

A superb statement piece offering extensive display and storage space, with excellent colour and condition throughout.
