Antique Edwardian Corner Walnut Tub Club Art Nouveau William Morris Fabric Chair, c1900

An elegant Antique Edwardian Corner Walnut Tub Club Chair, c.1900, upholstered in a striking William Morris–style Art Nouveau fabric. This finely crafted chair exemplifies early 20th-century design, blending refined Edwardian cabinet work with the artistic influence of the Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau movements.

The walnut frame, warm in tone and gracefully patinated, features a curved tub back with sweeping lines that flow into cabriole front legs and splayed back supports. The shaped apron is accented by subtle inlaid detail, enhancing the decorative quality without overpowering the natural beauty of the walnut.

Upholstered in a vibrant red and green floral William Morris fabric, the chair has strong visual presence, making it both a practical seat and a decorative statement. Its proportions — 800mm high, 615mm wide, 580mm deep, with a 420mm seat height — provide comfort and versatility. It can be placed neatly into a corner, used as an occasional chair, or styled as a bedroom or dressing room piece.

This Edwardian tub chair reflects the transitional spirit of the era: moving away from heavy Victorian furniture towards lighter, artistic designs influenced by continental Art Nouveau. With its fine walnut, flowing lines, and Morris-inspired textile, it offers both period authenticity and timeless decorative appeal.

A rare and charming piece of Edwardian furniture that bridges function and art.
