A rare and highly decorative set of seven (six singles and one carver) Arts & Crafts oak dining chairs, dating to circa 1890. Rich in architectural presence and craftsmanship, these chairs embody the honest materiality and hand-crafted ethos of the late Victorian Arts & Crafts movement.

Each chair features a pierced stick back with distinctive shaped splats beneath a striking hammered copper panel. The copper backplates are beautifully studded and centred with a raised monogram within a circular beaded surround, creating a powerful visual statement. The combination of warm oak and time-softened copper gives depth, texture and contrast — a hallmark of the movement’s celebration of mixed natural materials.

The chairs stand on turned front supports united by stretchers, providing both structural integrity and visual balance. The seats are upholstered in brown leatherette, complementing the oak’s rich tone while offering practical comfort for modern dining use.
