Antique Set Four Georgian Elm Solid Welsh Vernacular Sheraton Dining Chairs, c1780

A wonderful and authentic set of four Georgian elm dining chairs, crafted in the vernacular Sheraton manner, circa 1780. These chairs embody the understated elegance and practicality of late 18th-century rural craftsmanship — each with distinctive hand-tooled detailing, simple slatted backs, and saddle-shaped solid elm seats that display rich, natural figuring.

Constructed from beautifully grained elm, the chairs have developed a superb, time-worn patina — testament to over two centuries of use and care. The squared legs and stretcher supports offer excellent stability, while the traditional joinery techniques remain strong and secure. Their refined yet rustic form makes them a versatile choice for both period and contemporary interiors.

Perfect around a farmhouse kitchen table, country dining room, or Georgian hallway, these Welsh vernacular chairs capture the quiet sophistication and enduring charm of 18th-century British furniture design.
