Antique Regency Period Rosewood Daybed Chaise Longue Sofa, c.1820

Antique Regency Period Rosewood Daybed Chaise Longue Sofa, c.1820

An exceptional Regency period rosewood chaise longue, dating to around 1820 and showcasing the refined elegance that defined early 19th-century English furniture design. Crafted from beautifully figured rosewood with a rich, deep patina, the piece features contrasting brass inlay panels and starburst roundels to each scroll end—classic Regency motifs that elevate the form with decorative sophistication. The sweeping scroll back and foot create a balanced silhouette, while the reeded splayed legs, complete with brass paw caps and castors, provide both poise and mobility.

This example has been tastefully reupholstered in a later cream fabric, offering a neutral, calm tone that complements contemporary interiors just as effectively as traditional period settings. The long cushioned seat ensures comfort and makes the piece highly versatile, whether used in a drawing room, bedroom, study, dressing area or boutique retail environment. At nearly two metres in length, it serves beautifully as a statement daybed, sofa or window seat.
A superb Regency chaise with excellent proportions, stunning timber, desirable brass detailing and enduring decorative appeal.
