Antique French Regency Period Tall Pier Original Glass Mirror, c.1800

Antique French Regency Period Tall Pier Original Glass Mirror, c.1800

A wonderfully elegant French Regency period pier mirror, dating to around 1800 and retaining its richly atmospheric original mirror plate. This tall, slender example captures the refined neoclassical sensibilities of the era, with its painted frame and delicately applied gilding offering a soft, timeworn patina that interior designers actively seek. The carved frieze is particularly charming: an urn overflowing with flowers, flanked by scrolling acanthus and laurel leaves, all rendered in beautifully aged gilt that enhances the sense of French decorative grandeur.

The mirror plate displays the desirable foxing and soft silvering characteristic of untouched 18th/early 19th-century glass, adding exceptional authenticity and depth. Its proportions make it ideal for hallways, sitting rooms, dressing areas, and boutique commercial spaces where vertical emphasis and classical elegance are required. Whether leaned casually against a wall in a modern interior or mounted above a console in a period home, this Regency pier mirror brings effortless sophistication and the unmistakable charm of French antique craftsmanship. An excellent decorative statement piece with genuine age, originality, and character.
