Antique French Pine Two Tier Side Occasional Lamp Serving Side Table, c1850

Antique French Pine Two Tier Side Occasional Lamp Serving Side Table, c1850

A charming mid-19th century French pine side table dating to around 1850, retaining its honest country character and beautifully mellowed patina. Constructed from solid pine throughout, this piece displays the simple, practical proportions associated with provincial French furniture, with a restrained elegance that suits both traditional and relaxed modern interiors.

The table features a rectangular plank top with softly worn edges, showing the natural grain and gentle marks of age developed over more than a century. Below sits a single shallow drawer fitted with its original turned wooden knob, ideal for small household items, stationery or cutlery. The lower tier shelf provides additional storage or display space and reinforces the sturdy, functional design.

Raised on straight square legs with visible peg and joint construction, this piece exemplifies honest craftsmanship rather than ornamentation. Its compact size makes it particularly versatile — ideal as a side table, lamp table, serving stand, bedside table or kitchen occasional piece. The pale honeyed tones of the pine allow it to sit comfortably alongside both painted and darker antique furniture.

An authentic and useful example of early Victorian French country furniture, full of warmth, utility and understated charm.
