Antique Edwardian Burr Walnut Two Over Two Chest of Drawers, c1920

A delightful antique Edwardian burr walnut two over two chest of drawers, dating to circa 1920, displaying beautifully figured walnut veneers, elegant proportions and a wonderfully warm, rich patina.

The chest features an attractive arrangement of two short drawers above two generously proportioned full-width drawers, each displaying striking burr walnut figuring with intricate swirling grain patterns, natural figuring and subtle variations in colour. The beautifully veneered drawer fronts are framed by fine crossbanded borders, adding depth and refinement to the overall appearance.

The rectangular top is equally attractive, featuring a beautifully bookmatched arrangement of figured walnut veneers, enclosed within a contrasting crossbanded border and finished with a gently moulded edge.

Each drawer retains decorative brass drop handles with pierced circular backplates and finely detailed oval pendants, complementing the warm tones of the walnut. The chest stands on four elegantly shaped cabriole legs, lending a graceful, slightly elevated appearance to its otherwise traditional design.

The four spacious drawers provide excellent practical storage for clothing, linens and personal belongings, making this an ideal addition to a bedroom, dressing room, guest room or country house interior.

A particularly versatile and decorative example of early 20th-century English cabinetmaking, combining attractive figured walnut, traditional craftsmanship and timeless design.

Presented in good antique condition, with attractive age-related wear, minor surface marks and a rich, established patina consistent with its age and use. The drawers are clean and well presented internally, retaining their traditional dovetailed construction.
