Antique Early Victorian Tall Pine Single Wardrobe Hall Cupboard, c1840

Stock No. 2296 | Early Victorian | Circa 1840

A lovely example of early Victorian country furniture, displaying attractive natural pine grain, traditional joinery and wonderfully restrained architectural proportions.

An appealing antique Early Victorian tall pine single wardrobe or hall cupboard, dating to circa 1840, with a beautifully understated country house character and a warm, naturally aged finish.

Constructed principally from solid pine, this elegant narrow cupboard features a tall, single fielded panel door framed by substantial upright stiles, surmounted by a pronounced moulded cornice. The pleasing architectural design is complemented by a generously proportioned lower drawer, fitted with two traditional turned wooden knobs, providing additional practical storage.

The cupboard retains attractive period character throughout, with visible knots, distinctive grain patterns, gentle variations in colour and evidence of traditional cabinetmaking techniques. The stripped pine surface lends the piece a particularly inviting appearance, ideally suited to both period properties and contemporary interiors.

Its relatively narrow proportions make this an excellent choice for an entrance hall, bedroom, cottage or country house, offering useful storage without dominating the surrounding space.

A charming and versatile example of early Victorian vernacular furniture, combining simple functionality, traditional craftsmanship and the enduring appeal of antique English pine.

Good antique condition, displaying attractive age-related wear, historic marks and variations in colour consistent with its considerable age.
