Antique Early Victorian Pine Scrub Top Kitchen Table, c.1830

Antique Early Victorian Pine Scrub Top Kitchen Table, c.1830

A highly characterful early Victorian pine kitchen table, dating to circa 1830, retaining a beautifully worn scrubbed top and original painted base. This honest and practical piece perfectly embodies the charm of early 19th century farmhouse furniture.

The rectangular top is formed from solid pine planks, showing extensive natural wear, knife marks, and surface variation from generations of use — creating the desirable “scrub top” aesthetic so sought after in country interiors today. The base retains its original dark painted finish, now gently worn to reveal the timber beneath, adding depth and authenticity.

Raised on four well-turned legs, the table is fitted with a single frieze drawer, complete with its original turned wooden knob. The proportions make it an ideal kitchen prep table, console, or small dining table, equally suited to traditional farmhouse settings or modern rustic interiors.

Pieces of this period with genuine surface and untouched character are increasingly difficult to source, making this a particularly appealing example for both collectors and decorators.
